As you probably know, the County Council accepted a report in September which had, amongst other things, proposed the 'co-location' of Warwick and Leamington fire stations. In my view, that
could only mean one thing - the closure of Warwick, the smaller of the two. The Council was due to consider a further report taking this initiative forward in early December.
However, the Council has recently announced that its work on the proposed cuts to the fire service has been 'suspended'. This removes the immediate threat to Warwick fire station. I am sure
that the strong public reaction to the proposal - as demonstrated by the overwhelming support for my petition - has influenced the Council's decision. So thank you if you expressed your
support for Warwick fire station.
The County Council's proposals on fire service cuts are only suspended - not abandoned. Should they return to the proposal at some time in the future, I will continue to fight it.
