Explanation of Categories
Staffing Costs:
This paid the salaries and employer NI contributions for my four members of staff.
Office Costs:
This paid the expenses involved in maintaining my constituency office in Leamington, e.g. rent, rates, utilities, supplies etc.
Travel:
This represents reimbursement for travel expenses incurred. This mostly covers the cost of travel between my homes in Leamington and Westminster. It also
includes car use for constituency business.
Unfortunately, I am unable to travel by train or other public transport as I carry Ministerial red boxes with me which contain confidential government
papers.
Staff Travel:
This represents reimbursement for travel expenses incurred by my staff for train travel to and from Westminster. Such travel is usually undertaken in order to attend training
sessions.
Postage and Stationery:
This covers the cost of all postage and stationery issued from my office during the financial year.
IT Provision:
Parliament supplies the IT equipment in my constituency office. The total amount is divided broadly equally between all MP's offices.
Additional Costs:
This represents reimbursement for the costs of maintaining accommodation in London, in my case a studio flat. This amount covers the mortgage, servicing
costs, council tax, utilities and other running costs. The total also includes a subsistence allowance.
