I am surprised at the airport's decision to appeal against the joint decision by the DCLG and DFT to refuse planning permission for the 2 million passenger permanent terminal. The airport is
claiming that its legal advisors are saying the judgement is "seriously flawed". I can't see any foundation for that accusation. This may be bravado on the airports part, or on the other hand they
could mean it.
I remain of the view that this is the wrong place to seek to build a sizeable international passenger airport. The right location within the West Midlands to secure expanded airport capacity is
Birmingham, which in any case is sufficiently near to our area to serve as a good local hub for air travel. I'll continue to oppose efforts by Coventry Airport to secure a permanent terminal
facility.
