I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone from Warwick and Leamington's Sikh community a very happy Vaisakhi!
For those who don't know, Vaisakhi is an ancient harvest festival in the Punjab which marks the beginning of the new solar year and harvest season. It also celebrates the establishment of the Khalsa, to uphold the most funamental values of humanity.
These principles of equality for all people and religious tolerance are more important today than ever before. That is why I have long supported the involvement of the Sikh community in Warwick and Leamington, and look forward to the opening of the new purpose-build Gurdwara which promises to strengthen the bonds of community cohesion.
